2023 The Rift Adelaide Hills Chardonnay

"From a vineyard in Summertown at about 600m, this was direct pressed to French barrels; natural ferment, full mlf, bâttonage and 10 months on lees. It was a cool year in the Hills, and this was also picked with verve in mind, clocking in at relatively modest alcohol. It’s packed with flavour though. Cool yellow peach, citrus, nutty, spicy, savoury complexity, a note of straw, an umami leesy-ness. And it’s got texture, a saltiness, breadth of flavour and a civilised expressway of acid. It's an appealing package."
